NFPA 80 Chapter 19 (2010 Edition) states "19.4.8.1 If the link is damaged or painted, it shall be replaced with a link of the same size, temperature, and load rating."
NFPA 80 Chapter 19 (2016 Edition) states "19.5.2.2.1 Fusible links or other moveable parts shall not be painted or coated, unless listed by the testing agency." & "19.5.2.2.7 If the link appears damaged, it shall be replaced with a functionally equivalent link."
